The true foundation of our church is kindness and love

Our mission is to disseminate the word of God and to promote love, peace, and unity. We use our ministry to educate, uplift, and build foundations through religious and spiritual insight.

We seek to use our ministry as a pillar in the community for individual and collective growth and to restore healthy relationships with God. New Mount Zion fosters a welcoming environment by preaching faith and embracing love for thy neighbor.

About the Church

New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church is rooted in the historically Black neighborhood of Seminola, an area developed for the African American laborers who journeyed to build the Hialeah Park Race Track in 1923. Reverend J. R. Evans was a pastor of Mount Zion Church of Miami and he was adamant about the creation of a church to maintain a spiritual standard for the new community. Pastor Evans and Dana A. Dorsey, an influential Black millionaire and land developer, were integral to the inception of New Mount Zion in 1924.

Meet Pastor Bernard Anderson

Pastor Bernard Anderson, M.Div. was born in Evergreen, Alabama. He spent most of his youth living between the states of Alabama and Florida until there was a call he could not decline at the age of 18. God showed him that his calling was to preach and teach. Pastor Anderson has a love for God and for providing teachings that will last a lifetime. He envisions the church as a beacon of hope for the community and as a safe haven for God’s children where they are received just as they are.
